Dries Roobroeck holds a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences from Ghent University, Belgium, and has over 12 years of experience with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). He is an independent consultant and founder of AgCinX, an advisory firm and agricultural carbon project developer specializing in biochar, enhanced weathering, and low-carbon biomass energy systems.

As one of the leads on a gasification–biochar–based decarbonisation model for tea, Dries oversees the integration of biomass supply chains, biochar agronomy, environmental impact monitoring, and carbon-removal certification. His work includes baseline development, MRV design, third-party validation, and registry listing. In parallel, he designs and evaluates biochar field trials, develops decision-support tools, and builds interdisciplinary collaborations to quantify and scale agronomic, ecological, and socioeconomic co-benefits.
